SCREENWRITERS ANONYMOUS MEMBERSHIP RULES AND GUIDELINES

Mission Statement: Screenwriters Anonymous is a group of writers who want to improve their writing skills by reading scripts, hearing and offering constructive criticism to peers in addition to presenting their own work for criticism by fellow writers.
GROUP GUIDELINES:

1. Only complete drafts of a script will be workshopped.  No partial scripts.

2. There is a maximum of 10 group participants including submitting writers.  The participants are chosen on a first come first serve basis.  Members who are in attendance at any given meeting will have first opportunity to sign up for the next meeting.

 
   
 
     
   
 
     
  3. There is a minimum of 6 group participants including submitting writers.  If there are not 6 people signed up to attend by the Friday previous to the meeting, the meeting will be postponed to the next month.  The same scripts will be workshopped at the next meeting.

4. Meetings are held once a month on a Sunday evening from 7-9 pm.  The exact date of each meeting is chosen by the members in attendance at the previous meeting.

5. A script can only be submitted to the group for criticism if the writer has attended at least one meeting previous.

6. Scripts are chosen for criticism on a first come, first serve basis.
6a. Limit one script per meeting.
6b. There is a maximum of 2 short scripts per meeting or 1 feature length script.
6c. Each script will receive 1 hour to be presented and criticized according to the criteria illustrated in the MEETING PROCEDURE SECTION.
6d. Each feature length script will receive the full 2 hours.
6e. All scripts must be made available for pick up at the Afcoop office at least 2 weeks before the script is to be criticized.

SCRIPT SUBMISSION

1. Scripts can be submitted in MS Word format via e-mail to afcoop@supercity.ns.ca or 1 copy can be dropped off at the Afcoop office.  9 copies of the script will then be made at a charge of 3 cents per page.

2. The writer may also drop off 9 copies of the script to the Afcoop office.

3. The writer may also bring 9 copies of the script to the meeting.
MEETING PROCEDURE

1. A script or section thereof will be read to a maximum of 10 pages.
1a. The writer will select who reads what roles.
1b. The writer him/herself cannot read any part of the script.

2. Each person will receive 5 minutes to offer his or her critique.

3. The writer will have what remains of the 1 hour alloted, up to 30 minutes to ask questions of the group.  Then they'll move on to the next script.
